The Audubon-inspired Wedding of Carrie and Kyler

Zoe Gallina • March 7, 2022

All it takes is something simple. For it to become something grand.

Inspired by Audubon prints of Florida birds and a vision of creating a tropical oasis for all to enjoy, Carrie and Kyler’s Boca Grande wedding on April 10, 2021 was a sight to behold.

Throughout the design process, the couple was drawn to a beautiful blend of tropical foliage (like banana leaf, cat palm leaves, eucalyptus, and magnolia foliage ) and assorted floral blooms in shades of green and white (such as dendrobium and phalaenopsis orchids, ranunculus, scabiosa, spray roses, and tulips ), all accented with fruits and vegetables ( artichoke, bananas, lemons, key limes, dragonfruit, and coconut ).

It was a spectacular variety for creative design!

Influenced by these organic elements and the Audubon prints, Ian and Zoe thoughtfully created a Florida floral look that honored the natural environment in ways that went far beyond the norm.

What was created was truly an oasis - of both beauty and love.

A favorite of the day, Carrie’s modern cascade bouquet of orchids, ranunculus, tulips, and greens was a flowing piece of art in which Kyler’s boutonniere delicately complemented it. The bridesmaid bouquets had a bit more variety, giving depth to the overall bridal party look.

The ceremony (on an actual street!) surrounded by looming banyan trees, came to life with an arch of natural foliage peppered with white blooms. Loosely gathered arrangements graced chairs down the aisle.

After the ceremony, guests entered the reception through a grand foliage arch that framed the evening’s tent.

And it only got better as they continued.

Inside, each table was uniquely designed with a variety of floral, fruits, vegetables, containers, and candles - allowing for awe at every turn. A lounge area brought extra Florida flare with a rattan seating arrangement and harmonious floral.

Potted trees, rattan lanterns, and lush ferns were set throughout the tent and around the dance floor making for a tropical wonderland.

And those beautiful Audubon prints on the bar and hanging panels? Created by Swag Decor , they perfectly showcased the couple’s original inspiration.

Carrie and Kyler’s wedding was a inspirational treat for the Botanica team. Not only were we able to get creative by paying homage to Florida’s natural beauty, but we were given the opportunity to be a part of such an endearing couple’s special day.

May their life together be as beautiful as the day they said, “I do.”
