Sweet Smilax! Erin and Jack's Oxford Exchange Wedding
She wanted a wedding design that had never been seen before.
Something unforgettable yet fresh. Something unique yet classic. Something admire by all, yet all their own.
And when she wed Jack on that October day in 2020 at the Oxford Exchange in Tampa, FL not only did her dream come true, but it exceeded her every expectation.
Erin had always heard of Botanica’s highly regarded reputation of creative and quality work. Her and Zoe had even worked together on a previous event for Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital so she saw for herself why the team was considered the best of the best.
So even though Erin found some of Zoe’s design questions unusual from what she expected (asking what her interior home design looked like, for example), she put her trust in Botanica and let the team run with her answers.
And that, they did.
The event was a wonderland of organic greens and whites - based off of the couple’s home palette of neutrals and pastels.
Entering this historic venue, guests were welcomed by a plethora of smilax that hung from the ceiling and cascaded down the staircase. It was as though they were walking into an indoor gardenscape - one that accented the dark brown wood exquisitely.
Erin and Jack exchanged vows in the quaint conservatory turned lush paradise of natural botanicals. It was true candy for the eye.
Out of the fountain bloomed white hydrangeas, roses, and lisianthus and a soft blend of roses, peonies, and ranunculus were showcased in personal florals (including those for Erin’s son and Jack’s daughters).
However, the prize jewel was the ceremony altar consisting of a suspended chandelier dripping with the fountain’s white floral as well as delphinium and Italian rucus.
Cocktails (and later on, dancing) took place under the hanging smilax in the atrium with all eyes of the four-tiered wedding cake with fresh phalaenposis orchids, garden roses, and ranunculus.
Entering the reception, guests found their escort cards hanging on a custom vinyl printed wall and dinner was served amongst the sea of natural greenery accented by the pure whites of delicate flowers made into stunning arrangements and twinkling candlelight.
One of our favorite details was the custom escort vinyl wallpapered walls. The pattern on the wall was pulled from the couple’s wedding invitation envelope liner. Design ideas can come from anywhere (just as it did here from a home design) but its the team that can take those ideas and turn them into works of art that are exceptionally notable.
Thank you, Erin and Jack, for giving us this opportunity to develop your dreams and create an oasis of love that we were all touched by.
